Justin Brookes

Professor Justin Brookes is the Director of the Water Research Cente at the University of Adelaide. His research interests address source water issues for drinking water supply including cyanobacteria and pathogens, and he has written a number of works for the World Health Organization on these topics. His research also explores biogeochemistry, lake dynamics and flow based solutions for aquatic habitats in arid systems. Justin has led studies in the Murray River estuary The Coorong and Lower Lakes, lake and reservoir projects in four continents and AusIndustry funded projects on the biodegradation of chemical contaminats in reuse water. Justin is a founding member of the Global Lakes Ecological Observatory Network (GLEON) and sits on the steering committee of this organization. He has won more than $12 million in competitive grants and has has published more than 100 refereed papers and book chapters.
