Dr. Subramanya K. Kusnur is the Founder Chairman & CEO of AQUAKRAFT PROJECTS PVT LTD, a Next Generation for profit Social Enterprise Group focused on providing clean drinking water & sanitation to one and all. His passion for creating easily manageable and sustainable solutions for drinking water and sanitation took him to travel over 1000 villages from North East to the South of India to understand the issues plaguing the rural populace. His innovative ideas coupled with a rare socio economic acumen made him innovate models like aquatm – Water ATM & aquato – Automated Toilets that are now a part of the SWACHH BHARAT ABHIYAAN. His acronym for SWACHH is Sanitation & Water for Community Health & Hygiene. His relentless efforts of transforming CSR obligations into Social Capital to provide Clean Drinking Water & Sanitation has seen him create a unique Corporate Social Partnership with Indian Private & Public Sector Enterprises along with Global MNCs seamlessly subscribe to the same. His vision on creating a nationwide vocationally skilled manpower with a specific focus on training women in the area of SWACHH to manage and operate Drinking Water & Sanitation assets has received many accolades. His focus on creating new approaches coupled with developing innovative & sustainable solutions to social problems has seen him emerge as a NEXT GENERATION SOCIAL ENTREPRENEUR. His vision to launch SWACHHAGRAHA as an Advocacy Platform to aggregate support, donors, partners, volunteers, ideas and innovations to make clean drinking water, safe toilets, adequate nutrition and hygiene across the schools in India thereby enabling a healthy and clean India has received tremendous support across the country and Corporate India. SWACHHAGRAHA will leverage the social media and will aggressively advocate the cause of SWACHH BHARAT, SWASTHH BHARAT, SAMPANN BHARAT (CLEAN INDIA, HEALTHY INDIA, NEW & PROSPEROUS INDIA). Subramanya is a strong proponent of using SWACHH as a tool for Peace, Development & Diplomacy. SWACHHAGRAHA has also been recognized as a pioneering flagship initiative for achieving the 2030 SDGs by APPDSA (Asia Pacific Peace & Development Service Alliance) – A consortium of UN, USAID, US Peace Corps, FK Norway, KOICA and other multilateral agencies. His untiring efforts & commitment have been recognized far and wide and recently was appointed as a CO-‐CHAIRPERSON of the Youth Development & CSR Committee -‐ Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, Government of India. He has also been recently appointed as the CHAIRMAN of the US INDIA SME COUNCIL. The Government of Bihar, a state in the North of India, has appointed Dr. Subramanya as the MEMBER of the Bihar Investment Promotion Committee to promote Bihar as an Investment & Business destination globally.
Dr.Subramanya, 47, is a Graduate in Science from the University of Mumbai and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Software and Applications. He started his career with CANFINA, a wholly owned subsidiary of Canara Bank, a leading Indian Public Sector Bank and subsequently moved to the private sector in the area of Equity Broking, Debt Market Operations, Resource Mobilization and Structured finance. He then leveraged his experience in the BFSI segment to the IT arena where his experience spans from e-‐business strategies to Enterprise Banking Software, Enterprise Risk Management and Payment Systems. He was also involved in developing a comprehensive strategy for a nationwide project enabling financial inclusion of rural masses leveraging a Mobile Transaction Platform. He brings in rich experience of over 25 years in the BFSI, IT & Public Affairs spanning through both Public & Private Sector, domestically and internationally.
Dr. Subramanya has a keen focus of serving the public with issues relating to Children Welfare, Drinking Water & Sanitation, Public Health, Alternate Energy, Rural Development, Public Administration and International Bilateral Relationships. He has traveled widely across India and particularly Rural India. He has a strong international exposure by virtue of having traveled extensively across the Middle East, South East Asia, Africa and United States of America.
