Azam Bakeer Markar is the Head of Sustainability and General Manager, Group Business Development of Aitken Spence PLC. He manages the Sustainability, Communications, Branding and New Ventures Functions of the Colombo - listed diversified business group with operations in three continents.
Aitken Spence is the only company in Sri Lanka to be recognized as a'Best Corporate Citizen' by the country's leading business chamber for ten consecutive years. The team led by Azam is credited with conceptualizing and developing the company's sustainability strategy and the policy framework, which was ranked 'Best in Class' by the STING Corporate Accountability Index.
He is a member of the Board of Management of the Lakshman Kadirgamar Institute for International Relations & Strategic Studies that functions under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka. Azam was a founding Director of the United Nations Global Compact Network Sri Lanka, which advocates the adoption of corporate sustainability practices and alignment with global development goals amongst the country's corporate sector.
He holds leadership positions in several civil society organisations focused on youth, community relations and political mobilisation. Azam holds BSc (Hons) in International Economics from Loughborough University (UK) and a Diploma in International Relations.
Tomiwa is currently the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Manager for Sahara Foundation, a subsidiary of Sahara Group Limited. As the Foundation Manager, he focuses on facilitating the identification, development and implementation of Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives for the Group within and outside Nigeria while working with staff, Government institutions, partners and other local, national as well as international agencies, business neighbours and stakeholders towards achieving Sahara Groups overall CSR objectives.
Tomiwa received a B.Sc with honours in Sociology from the University of Ibadan and MSc. in Public Policy from the University of Bristol, UK.
Tomiwa is married with two children. He is an avid Manchester United fan and also enjoys swimming, table tennis and travelling.
He is extremely passionate about Social Reconstruction particularly in Nigeria and plays an integral role in promoting the welfare of the underprivileged in the society through partnerships with various Foundations and like‐minded individuals.
Bernard is a qualified Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with over 26 years of experience living and working in Ireland, Scotland, Bahrain, Dubai, the Dutch Antilles and the United States. His career has seen him work in the textile manufacturing, mobile telecommunications, private practice and the travel retail business.
Bernard has over 16 years' experience working in the duty-free industry, having previously worked for Bahrain Duty Free (1998-2001) and for Dubai Duty Free (2001-2007). Bernard returned to Dubai Duty Free in May 2010 to head up the Finance Department as Finance Controller and was named Senior Vice President - Finance in September 2016.
In addition to his CPA qualification, Bernard holds a Masters in Business Administration and is currently carrying out doctoral studies in airport retailing.
Donald Gwira is a professional with a strong background in development and corporate communications, advocacy and project management. He joined Afriwave Telecom in 2015 as Director of Corporate Affairs from Airtel Ghana where he was the head of Corporate Communications, External Affairs and CSR. In 2014, he was awarded the PR Discovery of the Year at the 3rd Public Relations Excellence Awards.
Passionate about CSR, Donald drove award-winning initiatives that were sustainable, empowering, "Green" friendly and is aligned with the values of the business which he advocates are essential for sustainable CSR. Before joining Airtel, he managed the Corporate Communications function at Guinness Ghana Breweries Ltd for three years where in his last year, he drove the Water of Life project providing potable water to over 100,000 people. Prior to Guinness and for a decade, he managed development projects in Guinea – Conakry, Mali and The Gambia as well as being the Communications Manager and Advocacy Champion for West Africa for Sightsavers International (Royal Commonwealth Society for the Blind). In 2004, he was recognized as part of 36 exemplary leaders in a book entitled Leading Coherently: Reflections from Leaders around the World. "As communications expert, he led the public relations effort across West Africa to get the word out about the prevention and cure of blindness. His creativity and "way with words" was effective in making the gift of sight a high priority for those within reach of his information campaigns". Authored by Nancy Stanford-Blair and Michael Dickmann, this book has become one of the reading materials for students of communications and leadership across the world.
Donald holds a Bachelor's degree in International Affairs from American University in Paris, France and a Master's degree in Political Science, majoring in International Relations and a minor in Comparative Politics (Africa) from Howard University in the USA.

Born in United Arab of Emirates, Malak Ali Hassan is one of the distinctive architects and Urban planners in the UAE and the Arab world. She is well known of constantly lobbying for sustainability and energy and experimenting with new and emerging technologies of all fields and design from urban scale to interiors and landscape.
After starting her office on 2013 her work got recognised at a global level and on 2014 she was awarded by Forbes 200 Most Powerful Arab Women, she also got a serviral award including Forbs, GR8! Women Awards Middle East 2015, for promoting Green Living. She also was part of the World Leadership Congress and Awards last October 2015 and was awarded for her Excellence in Business Leadership. Ruhi Murshid Ahmed, Head of CSR, PR & Communication, BSRM Group of Companies, Bangladesh - the first and pioneering steel rolling mill of the country operating since 1952. BSRM produces high-strength reinforced steel that confirms to 10 global standards under the brand name Xtreme-5OOW.
After receiving Master Degree in Business Administration from Dhaka University, Bangladesh, Ruhi eventually built professional career as Corporate Banker/Analyst, a job of her choice involving structure project finance, a deep-rooted desire to help facilitate industrialists to generate employment. She worked in Canada Scotiabank, in Bangadesh Dhaka Bank Ltd., The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC), ANZ Grindlays Bank Limited, Banque Indosuez, in USA East–West Center and School of Public Health, University of Hawaii, Honolulu.
A life transforming opportunity came when BSRM offered Ruhi to create its CSR desk. Shina Atilola is currently the Group Head, Strategy & Communications of Sterling Bank Plc. Nigeria, one of the fastest growing and most capitalized financial institutions in the West African sub region. With almost two decades of professional experience, Mr. Shina Atilola has established himself as a reputable banker with bias for promoting the sustainability tenets in the organizations he has worked at.
An erudite strategist in the Nigerian banking sector, Mr. Atilola has in his role enabled the Bank develop innovative approaches to doing business as well as in fulfilling her Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) priorities.
A first class graduate of International Relations from the Obafemi Awolowo University, Osun state, he has led the Bank's efforts at forging collaborative partnerships with various state governments and agencies to ensure environmental sustainability across the country. Other initiatives spurred by his visionary leadership include youth empowerment projects, financial literacy for children and financially excluded adults and tree planting to curb the desertification menace in the North East of the country.
